ತುರುಕರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಮೇಯಹಾಕಿ ಹಾಲ ಕರೆಯಲು ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಅಂಗಳವ ಸಾರಿಸಿ ರಂಗವಲ್ಲಿಯ ಹಾಕಲು ಸಡಗರವೆ
ತಳಿರು ತೋರಣಗಳ ಹೊಸ್ತಿಲಲಿ ತೂಗಿಸಲು ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಮನೆಮಂದಿಗೆ ಅಭ್ಯಂಜನವ ಮಾಡಲು ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಕಜ್ಜಾಯ ಕರೆದು ಸೀತೆಗುಣಿಸಲು ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಹಿತ್ತಲ ಮೊಗ್ಗನವಳ ಜಡೆಯಲಿ ನೇಯಲು ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಕಣಜಕೆ ಅರಶಿನ ಸುರಿಸಲೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಹೆಂಗಳಿಗೆ ಧೂಪ ಹಾಕಿ ಜಡೆ ನೇಯಲು ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಹೊಸವುಡುಗೆಯುಟ್ಟು ಕಾಡಿಗೆ ಹಚ್ಚಲು ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಹೂ ಮುಡಿದು ಮಂಟಪಕೆ ಧಾವಿಸಲು ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಸೀತಾರಾಮರ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ನೋಡಲೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಅಕ್ಷತೆಯ ಸುರಿಸಲೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಅರಶಿನ ಕುಂಕುಮ ಹಚ್ಚಿ ಮುತ್ತೈದೆಯ ನೋಡಲೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಡಗರವೆ
ನವವಧುವಿಗೆ ಬಾಗಿನ ಕೊಡಲೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಬಾಷ್ಪಗಳ ಸುರಿಸಲೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಡಗರವೆ
ಕಂಬನಿಯ ಹರಿಸಲೂ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ ಸಡಗರವೆ

ಬಾಷ್ಪಗಳ ಸುರಿಸಲು ಸಡಗರ - ಸೀತಮ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಮದುವೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಸಂತಸದ ವಿಷಯ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಆನಂದಬಾಷ್ಪಗಳನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸುವರು.
Joy abounds in Mithila, oh joy abounds!
There’s joy everywhere in Mithila, in every house oh there’s joy!
To wash the streets and adorn them, oh there’s joy!
To feed the calves and milk the cows, oh there’s joy!
To water the porch and draw rangolis, oh there’s joy!
To hang toran’s and buntings at the door, oh there’s joy!
To take oil baths, one and all bustle, oh there’s joy!
To fry sweet kajjaya and feed Seeta, oh there’s joy!
To plait young blossoms in her hair, oh there’s joy!
To mix turmeric in pots of rice, oh there’s joy!
To dry their hair in fragrant smoke, the women are in joy!
To wear new clothes and apply kajal in the eyes, oh there’s joy!
To wear flowers in the hair and rush to the wedding venue, oh there’s joy!
To watch the wedding of Seeta and Rama, oh there’s joy!
To bless with turmeric rice, oh there’s joy!
To apply kumkum and turmeric to the bride, oh there’s joy!
To give ritual gifts to the new bride, oh everyone’s in joy!
Tears of happiness flow, oh there’s joy!
Tears of sadness flow, yet there’s joy!
In the nooks and crannies of Mithila today, oh there’s joy.
A few words of explanation:
Tears of happiness: everyone is happy that Seeta is getting married, hence tears of joy flow.
Tears of sadness: they realise that Seeta will have to go away from them, to her husband's house and this makes them sad. Hence, tears of sadness flow too.
